Israeli newspaper Maariv reported Tuesday that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu refused to commit before U.S. President Barack Obama that Israel would not attack Iran before the U.S. presidential elections.
Netanyahu agreed to wait with an Israeli military move only until the [early] fall season, says the paper on its website, citing American sources. This appears to indicate an attack would take place in October.
The sources also said that Netanyahu agreed, in his meeting with Obama early last month, to give more time to "a dialogue" with Iran, accompanied by harsher sanctions against the Persian state. However, he refused to give his assurance that the Israeli strike would occur after the U.S. November elections.

Scheitern die 5+1 Gespräche im Mai, ist ein Angriff Israels im Lauf des Sommers möglich. Die Vorbereitungen laufen bereits, berichtete das israelische TV am Sonntag.

wenn da mal einer mit dem gehirn eines schachspielers rangehen würde - KONJUNKTIV !!! -
dann würde man sagen, da versuchen beide Drohungen aufzubauen - und beide, Israel und Iran überschätzen ihre Stellung
warum Israel: Israel kann leicht mit Toten rechnen - aber die haben weder die Waffen (Bomben mit ausreicher wahrhaft Gebirge brechender Energie) noch die Infrastruktuer (Tank-jets)
warum Iran: weil die sich eher aufblustern und den Gegner im Ungewissen lassen - die sind noch ein ganzes Stück weg, das angereicherte Material für eine Bombve zu besitzen
Und, kann es nicht sein, dass der Iran doch keine Selbstmörder in seiner Regierung hat - die wissen doch auch: Falls sie Israel angreifen, DANN hat Israel genügend Waffen für den Zweitschlag.

Wollen wir's hoffen. Nur machen sowohl die iranische als auch die israelische Regierung Politik mit einer extrem innenpolitischen Brille, das kann dann zu einem irrationalen Krieg führen, wenn's der Machterhaltung dient. Man kann das mit den leeren Drohungen soweit bringen, dass der Rückweg versperrt ist. Der Zeitpunkt Oktober wäre für die israelische Regierung nur dann interessant, wenn Obama die Wahl verliert. Das ist m.A.n. aber eher unwahrscheinlich.

In der Tat. Befürchtungen dieser Art beschleichen mich auch. Man ist schnell in einen Krieg gezogen (und hineingezogen) - wie schwer, es ist den zu beenden erfahren die USA in den Nachbarstaaten des Iran (von Befriedung muss man gar nicht reden)
Welche Folgen hätte denn überhaupt ein Schlag gegen das iranische Nuklearprogramm. Deren Anlagen sind so weit verstreut, dass man nicht alle ausschalten wird.
Damit verzögert man ein mögliches nukleares Waffenprogramm des Iran um einige Jahre.
Der negative Effekt: Man provoziert den Iran erst recht MIT ALLEN Mitteln dann eine Bombe fertigzustellen.
Ich nehme denen ab, dass sie nicht wirklisch mit Hochdruck an der Bombe arbeiten und dass sie wirklich "Dual-Use" Forschund betreiben - also den Grossteil des Programmens wirklich ziviel nutzen (dennerhlich wenn sie Reaktoren betreiben woillen, dann müssen sie nach Autarkie streben) [immerhin läuft das iranische Nuklearprogramm seit 21 Jahren - das hätte für den Bau einer Bombe schon ausgereicht]
Warum ich Angst habe: Die USA hatten für den Irak Krieg einen selbstgebauten "rauchenden Colt" - die werden das mit dem Iran auch hinbekommen - gefäslschte Luftaufnahmen machen die an einem Nachmittag ...

Wenn der Krieg kommt, dann bald. Denn Auslöser des Konfliktes ist weniger der latente Atomstreit, als die Sprüche des persischen Staatspräsidenten, der aber auch zuhause nicht gerade unumstritten ist.
Nach den Wahlen im Juni 2013 wird, so Gott will, ein besonnenerer Mann Präsident, der niemandem mit Vernichtung droht und weniger Angriffsflächen bietet. Dann wird es wesentlich schwieriger, einen Angriff zu begründen.

They cite a series of factors that, for now, argue against a conflict. The threat of tighter economic sanctions has prompted the Iranians to try more flexible tactics in their dealings with the United States and other powers, while the revival of direct negotiations has tempered the most inflammatory talk on all sides.
A growing divide in Israel between political leaders and military and intelligence officials over the wisdom of attacking Iran has begun to surface. And the White House appears determined to prevent any confrontation that could disrupt world oil markets in an election year.
