A group of independent experts appointed by the UN human rights council has said Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus violated international law.
“All countries are prohibited from arbitrarily depriving individuals of their right to life in military operations abroad, including when countering terrorism,” said the experts. “Killings in foreign territory are arbitrary when they are not authorised under international law,” they said.
The experts said Israel does not appear to have been exercising self-defence on 1 April because it presented no evidence that Iran was directly committing an “armed attack” on Israel or sending non-state armed groups to attack it. The experts noted that Israel has not provided any legal justification for the strike or reported it to the Security Council, as required by Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
“Israel’s attack consequently violated the prohibition on the use of armed force against another state under Article 2(4) of the Charter,” the experts said.

"Das Kriegsvölkerrecht unterscheidet Kombattanten und Nicht-Kombattanten.
Und Kombattanten sind alle, die sich an kriegerischen Handlungen gegen ein anderes Land beteiligen.

Auf den konkreten Fall übersetzt bedeutet das, dass wenn die iranischen Generäle dort waren, um Angriffe der Hisbollah auf Israel zu unterstützen, befehlen oder koordinieren, sie dadurch automatisch zu einem legitimen Ziel werden.
Man darf davon ausgehen, dass Israel das gerichtlich nachweisen könnte. Denn sonst hätte Israel ja gar nicht gewusst, wer sich dort befindet und was die da machen. Offenbar kannte Israel aber sogar das Stockwerk, in dem die Leute sich aufhielten.
Man kann also davon ausgehen, dass sie die Iraner abgehört haben.
Israel hat also nicht Syrien angegriffen, auch nicht durch einen eventuellen Überflug. Weil es mit Syrien ja eh in einem nie beendeten Kriegszustand ist. Seit 1967, seit Syrien Israel angegriffen hat. Und sich einer Anerkennung Israels verweigert.
Israel hat auch nicht den Iran angegriffen, sondern sich gegen die Angriffe des Irans gewehrt. Und das ist völkerrechtlich legitim.
Ob Israel das nun auf syrischem, iranischem oder ivorischem Boden getan hat, spielt gar keine Rolle."Schreibe nicht ich (oder irgendein böser rechter Schwurbler), sondern ein mit der Materie vertrauter knallharter Linker, dem ich in vielen Fragen alles andere als nahe stehe.
